Silver Medal in 2025 Senior National Games! — Dan Marker Testimonial
At 68 years old, I decided to correct a very bad running form, best described as notable over-striding and pronation. I also decided to focus on track running to stress the form anomalies. Progress was slow so I searched for a running coach. I found many coaches focused on working harder and jumping higher but at my age I just wanted to run without injury, which was limiting my mileage to a dozen miles per week.
Douglas seemed like a good choice to improve my running form, so I signed up for 6 video sessions. Douglas focused on the need for flexibility and pointed out the flaws in my running form; but the most important concept he taught was an ability to isolate a muscle, any muscle, and track that muscle for tension, relaxation, and muscle action.
Armed with this insightful ability, I could review dozens of “professional” running videos while always being mindful of Douglas’ basic instructions. Working hard, my flexibility exploded, and my form gradually improved over the next several years. It would often take 3 to 6 weeks of running to make a form change. The change was not always positive, but muscle tracking would allow one to understand what was successful and what was not.
At 68, I just wanted to run free of injury; at 73, I ran in the 2025 Senior National Games and won a silver medal in the 800 meter @ 2:48.6 and a bronze medal in the 1500 meter @5:48.3.
Muscle tracking allows me to keep form during training runs as well as track events. Neck, legs, feet, shoulders, or back; it makes no difference .
Douglas, thank you for your help.
